Meet growing investor demands by participating in the Chemical Footprint Project Survey

Newsletter: June 5, 2023

The Chemical Footprint Project (CFP) Survey assesses where companies are on their journey to reduce their chemical footprint and use inherently safer alternatives.

Investors in the Investor Environmental Health Network (IEHN) recently called for more companies to adopt best practices and join the 2023 CFP Survey – “Just as companies regularly report on carbon, water, waste, and emission reductions, investors are asking companies to report on their chemicals management practices and chemical footprint reductions in their sustainability and ESG reports.”

CFP now offers 2 pathways for companies to participate in the Survey:

  • The 2023 Survey for any company in any business sector.
  • The Solar Survey  for companies in the solar sector.

The 2023 CFP Survey is Now Open!

Whether your company has already begun or is preparing to start on the journey to safer chemicals in products responding to the CFP 2023 Survey will get you closer to your chemical footprint reduction goals.

Participate in the CFP 2023 Survey and:

  • Learn how prepared your organization is to address emerging chemicals of concern.
  • Meet growing demands for greater transparency in chemical safety. CFP Signatories represent $3 trillion in assets under management and $800 billion in purchasing power and are asking companies to disclose where they are on their chemical safety journey.
  • Benchmark yourself to peers in the retail, household cleaning and personal care products, toys, medical supplies, and devices, and building products and furnishing sectors.
  • Demonstrate your leadership by achieving CFP Frontrunner and Disclosure Leader status.

The CFP 2023 Survey will close on August 15, 2023. Apply to participate in the Survey. Watch the webinar to learn more about this year’s Survey.

The New CFP Solar Survey

Investors for Sustainable Solar, a new collaboration coordinated by IEHN,  calls on leading solar companies to participate in the just released CFP Solar Survey.

The new Solar Survey builds upon the CFP Survey and the work of the Collaboratory for a Regenerative Economy (CoRE) to prioritize chemicals of high concern to the solar sector. The CFP Solar CoHCs Reference List encompasses multiple lists of hazardous chemicals especially relevant to the solar sector.

CFP integrates Solar CoHCs into the Survey by:

  • Specifying Restricted Substances Lists (RSLs) for products in Question I1 in the Product Module.
  • Specifying Manufacturing RSLs (MRSLs) for manufacturing operations in Question I1 in the Manufacturing Module.
  • Creating the CFP Solar CoHCs Reference List, which enables responders to report their chemical footprint in Question F2 and changes in their chemical footprint in Question F3 for CoHCs relevant to the solar sector in both products and manufacturing.
