Bill Pease
Chief Scientist, Product Supply Chain Intelligence, UL

Bill is Chief Scientist - Product Stewardship in UL Solution’s Supply Chain Insights business unit, where he is responsible for the scientific methods and informatics services used by manufacturers and retailers to evaluate materials and products on their health, environmental and social impacts. Bill works with major purchasers like Target to design the standards they use to identify preferable products and to implement software systems to collect data from their supply chains. Bill is an expert in chemical informatics and quantitative risk assessment.
Bill is trained as an environmental scientist, and has served on the faculty at the School of Public Health, University of California at Berkeley. While Director of Internet Projects at Environmental Defense Fund, he created scorecard.org, the web's top-ranked site for localized environmental information. Prior to joining GoodGuide, Bill served as Chief Scientist at Convio and Chief Technology Officer at GetActive Software, the leading online providers of constituency management services to U.S. non-profit organizations. He has also worked for CalEPA, the California Department of Health Services, and the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Management. His academic areas of interest include informatics and quantitative risk assessment. Bill holds a BA from Yale University, an MS in Energy and Resources and a PhD in Environmental Health Sciences from UC Berkeley. He was also a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University, England.
